Women’s Soccer Defeats Yeshiva, 5-0, On The Road

YONKERS, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2009) – The Maritime women's soccer team shut out Yeshiva, 5-0, at Tibbetts Brook Park in nearby Yonkers Thursday night. With the win, the Privateers improve to 8-9-1 (2-6 Skyline), while the Maccabees fall to 1-8-1 (0-7 Skyline).

 

Freshman Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) scored the first two goals of the game and ended the day with a hat trick, while sophomore Sam Easterman tallied Maritime's other two goals of the contest. Junior Christina George (Southold, N.Y./Southold) and freshman Meghan Burke (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner ) tallied two assists apiece, while senior Meagan Golden (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) picked up one helper.

 

Freshman keeper Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) got the start in net, but was substituted for sophomore AudryAnna Ward (Youngsville, N.Y./Lake Huntington) at halftime, while Marietta played in the first non-goalie action of her career. The two combined for a team shutout.

 

The Privateers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when they travel to Buzzards Bay, Mass. to take on the Buccaneers of Massachusetts Maritime at 6 p.m.
