THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 18, 2009) – The Maritime women's soccer team was defeated by City College, 1-0, on a rainy Sunday at Reinhart Field. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 6-9-1 overall on the season, while the Beavers improve to 4-7-1.
CCNY scored the game's only goal in the 33rd minute, when forward Frances Tapia stole the ball from a Maritime defender in the box, dribbled it up and blasted it into the top left corner from 12 yards out. The Beavers then stopped all of the Privateers chances of getting the equalizer.
In net for Maritime, freshman Courtney Marietta made seven saves.
The Privateers return to the pitch on Thursday, Oct. 22, when they travel to Brooklyn take on Skyline Conference-opponent Yeshiva. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
