ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2009) – The Maritime women's soccer team was shut out on Saturday, 8-0, by Skyline-opponent Bard at the Raptors' Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer Complex. With the defeat, the Privateers fall to 6-8-1 (1-6 Skyline), while Bard improves to 7-3-3 (4-0-3 Skyline).
The Raptors got the first goal quickly in the 6th minute, and then went nearly 15 minutes without another tally until the 22nd minute. Bard added three more goals in the first half and took a 5-0 lead into halftime. In the second, the Raptors continued to press, scoring three more times before time ran out, and claimed the 8-0 win.
In net for the Maritime, freshman Courtney Marietta saw 35 shots come her way and turned aside nine of Bard's 17 shots on goal.
The Privateers return to action tomorrow, Oct. 18, when they play host to City College at 1 p.m. on Reinhart Field in the final home game of the season.
