THROGS NECK, NY - The men's swimming team defeated the College of Staten Island at home 129-107 for their 4th win of the season. The Privateers had 6 first place finishes in the meet.
Ryan Luchsinger (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai) (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) gave Maritime their initial 1st place finish, in the 50 yard freestyle. His time of 22.61 was .12 seconds faster than the runner up from CSI. Luchsinger later took first place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.52, two seconds better than the second place finisher. He later raced with the 200 yard freestyle relay team that captured first place.
Jonathan DaSilva (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melville) was also part of the winning relay team, but also captured an individual win in the 200 yard medley (2:11.28) and the 100 yard fly (57.56). Karl Fisher (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) took first place in the 1M dive, scoring 192.80 points. Fisher, DaSilva, Luchsinger, and Brian Day (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) were the winning foursome of the 200 yard freestyle relay.
