THROGS NECK, NY - Behind a season high 19 points from senior Tim Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) (Fresh Meadows, NY./St. Francis Prep) the Privateers snapped a three game skid with an 83-73 conference victory at NYU-Polytechnic last Thursday evening.  The win puts Maritime at 6-5 (3-2) overall.

The first 10 minutes of the game were played pretty tight, with each team holding a lead by as much as four.  At the 8:50 mark, the Privateers began to pull away, going on a 13-4 run to open the game up to a nine point lead.  Despite a small comeback by the Blue Jays in the final minutes, Maritime went into the locker room with that same 9 point advantage.

The second half started strong, with the Privateers extending the lead to 13 over the first five minutes of the half.  However, the Blue Jays never gave in, and chipped away at the lead until they eventually tied the game at 63 with 7 minutes to play.  NYU-Poly took their first lead of the second half thirty seconds later.

An 8-0 run by the Privateers gave them a 7 point cushion, which proved to be enough to win the game.  Free throws sealed the game down the stretch for a 10 point victory.  Dougherty led the scoring with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Maritime, followed by Andre Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern) (Baltimore, MD) with 15 points.  Jermelle Fraser (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman) (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman) came off the bench and added 14, while Joe Bracaglia (Jamiaca, NY/Martin Van Buren) rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12.

NYU-Polytechnic was led by Arjun Ohri who scored 44 points on 14-27 shooting (6-13 from 3-pt. range).  He pulled down 11 rebounds to lead the team in both categories.

The Privateers will host arch rival Kings Point on Monday night beginning at 8:00PM.  This game was rescheduled from last semester.
