THROGS NECK, NY - The men's soccer team played two 10-minute overtimes against visiting Baruch College, but that was not enough time to decide a winner. Since non-conference games do not go to a tie-breaking shootout, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  The Privateers are now 3-2-1 on the season, while Baruch moves to 1-2-3.

The Privateers opened the scoring only 4 minutes into the game, with Efosa Ogbeifun (Benin, Nigeria/Chrisland College (Nigeria)) (Benin, NIgeria/Chrisland College) floating a shot over a charging goalkeeper.  The goal was his second of the year, and came on a 1-on-1 breakaway down the right side of the field.

Not intimidated by the early deficit, the Bearcats came right back and scored a minute later, thanks to a rebound shot from Dominick Cinquemani.  He took a rebound from a Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, NY/Francis Lewis) save and put in into the back of the net to tie the game.  The defenses took over after that, not allowing anymore goals to be scored.

The Bearcats had a chance to win in the first overtime, after getting Papson to come out of the net.  Passing it by Papson, it looked as if the Bearcats had a wide open net, but Andrew Rahner (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) came from behind and made a sliding save, keeping the Privateers in the game.  The defense would allow only one more shot on goal for the remainder of the game.

Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) was impressive in goal, saving 15 shots in the game.  His opponent in net, Nelson DiBastiano, saved 6 shots on the evening.

The Privateers will be home again on Wednesday to take on Manhattanville.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00PM.
