Box Score
THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's lacrosse team traveled to Pomona, NJ for a conference game against Richard Stockton, and came out with an 18-13 victory.  The win is Maritime's 9th of the season (9-3) and 3rd in the conference (3-1).

The Privateers opened the game strong, scoring six goals in the first quarter and allowing none for their opponents.  Colin Gallagher (Minneapolis, Minn./Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) made 5 saves in the quarter to anchor the Maritime defense.  The Privateers picked up twice as many ground balls in the first, and won 5-7 face-offs.

Although Maritime was outscored in the second quarter (4-3), the Privateers still were able to take a comfortable lead into the locker room.  Statistically, Maritime was ahead in all categories, having taken 29 shots, picked up 22 ground balls, and winning 12-15 face-offs.  Gallagher made 3 saves in the second, helping Maritime to the 9-4 halftime lead.

Richard Stockton came out in the second half looking like a different team, evening out the stats and scoring 6 of the last 9 goals in the game.  However, the surge was too late, since Maritime had built a 15-8 lead with one quarter remaining.  Gallagher made 8 saves in the second half, totaling 16 in the win.  Lawrence Montreuil (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) finished with a season high 8 points, scoring 4 times and assisting another 4 times.  Alex Rosero (Bellport, NY/Bellport) (Bellport, NY/Bellport) added 3 goals and an assist.  Four other Privateers finished with 2 goals, and three Privateers scored once.

The win for Maritime gave them sole possession of second place in the conference with only one conference game remaining.  The Privateers will be on the road against rival King's Point on Wednesday at 7:00PM and finish the regular season at home on Saturday against conference foe Farmingdale.  That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00PM.
