Box Score
THROGGS NECK, NY - The men's lacrosse team lost a tough conference game against Montclair State on the road 14-6.  The loss brings Maritime to 8-3 (2-1) and puts them in a tie for second place in the conference with Richard Stockton.  Montclair takes over first place with a 3-0 conference record.

The Privateers jumped to an early lead off a goal by Alex Rosero (Bellport, NY/Bellport) (Bellport, NY/Bellport) in the opening 2 minutes of the game.  A goal by Montclair tied the game at 1, however the Privateers scored the next two in the quarter to end the first 15 minutes up 3-1.  Steve Hackeling (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) (Huntington, NY/Cold SpringHarbor) and Lawrence Montreuil (New Hyde Park, NY/New Hyde Park) scored the last two in the quarter.

Up 3-1 to begin the second quarter, the Privateers allowed Montclair to tie the game at 12:02, but immediately scored two more to reclaim the two goal lead.  The teams split the last goals of the half, sending Maritime into the locker room up 6-4.  Rosero scored his second goal of the night in the quarter, while Stephen Doherty (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) (Yorktown, NY/Laekland) and Alex Korb (Islip, NY/Islip) each scored the Maritime.

The second half proved to be much harder for the Privateers, who couldn't find the back of the net the entire half.  Six penalties proved costly for Maritime, as Montclair State capitalized twice on those six penalties.  Maritime managed only 6 ground balls in the half, while turning the ball over 18 times.

Colin Gallagher (Minneapolis, Minn./Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) made 17 saves in the loss for the Privateers.

Maritime will be on the road again on Saturday against Richard Stockton.  The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. in Pamona, NJ.
