Privateer Baseball Wins Both Games Over Yeshiva

THROGGS NECK, NY - The Privateer baseball team won both games of the split double header against Yeshiva, winning 20-6 Thursday evening, and 11-6 Friday morning.  The Privateers moved up to 4-11 (4-4) on the season.

The first game was played at Taft High School Thursday evening.  The Privateers opened the game with a 4 run first inning to take immediate command of the game.  Kevin Fay (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) (Sterling, VA/Potomic Falls) pitched a little over 5 innings, giving up 9 hits and 6 runs.  He struck out 3 for the win.  Jacob Nessel (Montauk, N.Y./East Hampton) (Montauk, NY/East Hampton) went 2-6 with 3RBI.  His two hits were a triple and a homerun.  Matthew Montanes (Elmhurst, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) (Elmhurst, NY/St. Francis Prep) finished with 3 hits and 3 runs scored.

The second game was played Friday morning at Maritime, with the Privateers winning 11-6.  Ed Witkowski (St. James, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) (St. James, NY/St. John the Baptist) was the winning pitcher, going 6.1 innings and giving up 4 runs on 11 hits.  He struck out 4 batters for the win.  Greg Oliva (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) (Seaford, NY/Seaford) led the Privateers with 3RBI on a 3-6 performance.  Six other Privateers put together a multiple hit game.

Maritime will continue their conference season tomorrow at noon in Farmingdale NY.  The Privateers will travel to the Rams for a doubleheader.  Maritime will then return home for another doubleheader against Old Westbury at 10:00AM.
