Privateer Women's Lacrosse Drops Home Match to Fitchburg State

THROGGS NECK, NY - The Maritime women's lacrosse team lost a home match to Fitchburg 20-2 early Saturday morning.  The loss puts Maritime at 0-4 on the season.

The Privateers played the entire game down at least 2 players due to injuries sustained in previous games.  The Falcons took immediate advantage of this, scoring their first goal only 2 minutes into the game.  they followed with 11 more goals in the first half.  Ashley Massa scored all three of her goals in the first, and Emily Swan  recorded 4 assists in the first (6 for the game).  Kaitlin Kelley scored twice in the first, along with Tessa Leahy

The Privateers' Jami-Lyn Butto (Lakeworth, Fla./Pope John Paul II) (Lakeworth, FL/Pope John Paul II) opened the second half with a goal of her own, only 2 minutes in.  However, the Falcons weren't ready to let up, as they scored the next 8 goals before Maritime scored their 2nd and final goal with 1:50 remaining.  Jamie Gleber (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) took advantage of her free position attempt, and put it by the back-up goalkeeper.

The Privateers will be in action again at home on Monday.  The game against Pine Manor College will begin at 8:00 PM.
