THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's basketball team won their third consecutive game (all in one week) and moved into sole possession of 4th place in the conference with their 63-60 victory over Yeshiva at home.  The Privateers also moved above .500 to 12-11 (9-7) while Yeshiva dropped to 9-14 (6-10).

Both teams came out strong in the opening minutes, and neither team led by more than 4 points for almost the entire half (18 minutes).  7 ties and 6 lead changes in the first half kept the game close, until Yeshiva pulled away during the final 2 minutes to take a 6 point lead (30-24) into the locker room.

The second half was much the same as the first, with Yeshiva controlling the first 10 minutes and taking a 7 point lead as many as two times.  However, the Privateers kept it close and tied the game with 7:40 to play on a Giovanni Hurley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Middle College High) (Brooklyn, NY/Middle College) three point play.  After the free throw, the Privateers took the lead and never gave it back.  The lead was extended to 6 with 3 minutes to play, but Yeshiva couldn't come back in the end.

Hurley led all scorers with 18 points on 5-9 shooting and pulled down 9 rebounds.  Jamal Webb (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Tuckahoe) (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe) followed with 14 points, 9 steals, 4 assists, and 3 blocked shots.  Rahshawn Pringle (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglas) chipped in with 10 points and 4 assists.

Yeshiva was led by Zachary Gordon with 17 points, followed by David Schaulewicz with 15.

With their 12th win of the season, Maritime tripled their win total from last season, and came one step closer to the 10th conference win of the season.  The win also clinched a Skyline Conference Tournament bid, and a possible home game in the first round.  The final two conference games of the season are on the road against Polytechnic on Wednesday and at home against Old Westbury on Saturday.
