Sharp Shooting Privateers Send Farmingdale Home with an 84-73 Loss

THROGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime Privateers defeated the Conference Champion and pre-season favorite Farmingdale State with an 84-73 victory at home.  The Privateers are now 4-1 (2-0) while Farmingdale dropped to 4-2 (1-1).  The win is Maritime's first against Farmingale State in more than 5 years.

Kevin Josey (Staten Island, N.Y./Monroe Webster) (Staten Island, NY/Monroe Webster) led the attack with 20 points, including 5-8 from behind the arc.  Following Kevin was Paul Frazier (Baltimore, MD/Mervo) with another double-double at 19 points and 10 rebounds.  As a team, the Privateer defense held Farmingdale to 20% from behind the arc, and 44% from the field. 

Down 39-34 at the half, the Privateers came out of the locker room ready to play.  A 6-0 run to open the second stanza gave Maritime the 1 point advantage.  The games 6th tie came with 14:48 to play, and that would be as close as the Rams would get the rest of the way.  Josey hit a 3 pointer to go up by 4, and after a defensive rebound by Rahshawn Pringle (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglas),  Josey hit another three pointer to extend the lead.  Maritime extended the lead to double figures just under 10 minutes when Frazier hit a lay-up for an 11 point lead.  The Privateer lead increased to as much as19 points, twice, down the stretch before the clock expired, and moved their record to 4-1 overall.

Leading the Rams was Mike Campbell with 15 points on 6-13 shooting.  Damien Santana and Erastus Shannon each added 13.

Up next for the Privateers is Yeshiva on December 13th.  The conference game will be played at Yeshiva beginning at 8:30PM.
