THROGS NECK, NY - A ten point halftime advantage proved not enough for the Maritime Privateers, as the Yeshiva Maccabees overcame the deficit to tie the game on a last second three point shot, and send the game into overtime.  The Privateers were outscored 15-12 in the extra stanza, as the Maccabees improved to 5-4 (3-3).  Maritime's loss puts them at 4-2 (2-1) heading into the Holiday break.

Yeshiva's only first half lead came with 17:43 remaining, and then the Privateers took over.  Maritime pushed their lead to as many as 16 when Stefen Reid (Riverside, CA/La Sierra) (Riverside, CA/La Sierra) came off the bench and connected after making a strong post move.  That basket came with 5 minutes to play, and proved to be the final score for Maritime in the half.  Yeshiva ended the final five minutes with a 6-0 run to cut the halftime lead to 10 for Maritime.

Maritime came out and immediately scored off their first possession in the second half, extending the lead to 12.  However, a 9-0 run by the Maccabees cut the lead to 3 in the first 5 minutes of play, to bring the momentum back to the home team.  The Privateers worked the lead back to 10 with 10 minutes to go, and the game looked to be back in control of Maritime.

Yeshiva fought all the way back one more time to take their second lead in the game with just over 3 minutes left to play.  This time, the Privateers could not extend the lead again, and the game see-sawed back and forth for a few minutes.  The game seemed to be won with 22 seconds to play, after Andre Cooper (Baltimore, MD) hit a free throw to give the Privateers a 3 point advantage.  That proved to be incorrect, as Aryeh Magilnick came off the bench for the first time all night and hit his first shot, a three pointer, with 5.6 seconds reamaining.  The Privateers were unable to get a shot off as time expired, and Maritime went into their first overtime game of the season.

Overtime saw three ties in the first 3 minutes of play, as neither team could extend their lead more than 3 points.  After that third tie, Yeshiva took over with a 7-0 run to ultimately put the game away.  Paul Frazier (Baltimore, MD) hit a three pointer as time expired but it wasn't enough and the Privateers fell 74-71.

Frazier led Maritime with 23 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Cooper and Gio Hurley (Brooklyn, NY/Middle College HS) with 12 apiece.  Yeshiva's Martin Leibovich led his team with 26 points and 13 boards.

The Privateers will be off for the next few weeks, as they prepare for Baruch College at home on December 30th.
