Men's Soccer Wins Final Regular Season Game for Berth into Conference Quarterfinals

THROGS NECK, NY - With Saturday's 3-0 win over the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent, the men's soccer team secured a spot in the Skyline Conference Quarterfinals.  The team will travel to Newburgh, NY to take on Mount Saint Mary at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening.

The Privateers got goals from William Smith (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, NY), Victor Sanchez (Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove) (Glen Cove, NY/Glen Cove), and Jason Tursi (Farmingdale, N.Y./Plainedge) (Farmingdale, NY/Plainedge)Tursi scored his goal only 5 minutes into the game, to give the Privateers the early lead.  The other two goals came in the 64th and 68th minute of play.

Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, NY/Francis Lewis) was credited with his 5th shutout of the season, saving 5 shots in 90 minutes of play.

This is the second time in as many seasons that the Privateers will appear in the quarterfinals.  Last season, Maritime defeated Mount Saint Mary 3-1 in Throgs Neck, NY.  This season, the seeds are reversed, with the Knights (3rd seed) hosting the Privateers (6th seed) in the quarterfinals.  Tuesday's game will begin at 7:00PM.
