Men's Soccer Falls Short to Kings Point on the Road

THROGS NECK, NY - The men's soccer team lost a tough fought road contest at King's Point last night 2-1.  It was the Privateers 5th loss of the season (3-5-1) while King's Point captured their 7th (7-4) of the season.

The Privateers played tough defense the entire game, and had a great 90 minutes from Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, NY/Francis Lewis)Papson kept the game scoreless when he stopped a penalty kick early in the game.  He later gave up a goal to Clint Foster that was placed perfectly into the corner of the goal.  However, the Privateers battled back to tie the game, with Jason Tursi (Farmingdale, NY/Plainedge) scoring his second of the season from close to midfield with only a minute to play in the half. 

The second half proved to be a defensive battle, with neither team able to break the tie for nearly 35 minutes.  Finally, Clint Foster broke the tie with his second goal of the season with 10 minutes to play.  The Privateers were unable to make a second comeback, and dropped the game 2-1.

Maritime will be back in action on Saturday at 7:00 PM against Purchase College.  The game will be played under the lights on Reinhart field.
