THROGS NECK, NY - The Maritime men's soccer team lost to the conference's second best team Wednesday night, the Farmingdale Rams, 3-0 in Throgs Neck.  The Privateers record fell to 5-6-2 (1-2-1) while Farmingdale improved to 7-5 (4-0).

Both team's defenses started the game strong, trading possessions and stealing balls from the other teams offense.  However, 20 mimutes into the game, Farmingdale's Ryan Hartman broke the scoreless game with a goal of a perfectly centered pass from Mathew Arthurs.  That would be the only score of the first half, a hal in which the Privateers attempted only 3 shots.

The second half started off with the Privateers controlling the ball.  A shot by Mayer Nelson (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) not 2 minutes into the half looked like it would bend around the goalkeeper, but the ball struck the post.  A rebound attempt from Efosa Ogbeifun (Benin, Nigeria/Chrisland College (Nigeria)) (Benin, Nigeria) went high and those would be the two closest shots the Privateers had in the game.  Farmingdale tacked on two more goals in the second, to reamin unbeaten in the conference.

Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, NY/Francis Lewis) made 7 saves in goal for the Privateers, while his opponent, Patrick Gubbins, made 5.  Up next for Maritime will be Bard College on the road Saturday.  The game is set to begin at 2:00PM.
