Box Score THROGGS NECK, NY - The men's basketball team traveled to Bard College for the second match-up of the season between both teams. The Raptors avenged their 101-77 loss to Maritime in December, by beating the Privateers 87-77 Tuesday night. The loss dropped Maritime to 8-10 (5-6) on the season.
The Raptors took control of the game right from the tip, allowing Maritime only two leads in the entire game (both 1 point leads). Despite trailing all but 40 seconds of the first half, the Privateers were only down 7 at the half.
The Privateers kept it close in the second half, making a 13-2 run with 7 minutes to go in the game, to bring it to a 1 point deficit. Maritime would get no closer, as Bard brought the lead back up to 9 with 4:30 to play and made their free-throws down the stretch for the 10 point victory.
Jamal Webb (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Tuckahoe) (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe) came up 2 assists shy of a triple double. he recorded 26 points (10-15 shooting), 14 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Tim Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) finished with 19 points on 8-15 shooting and 4 rebounds.
Bard's Justin White had 26 points followed by Demitrius Washington with 17 and Raymond Arocho with 16.
The Privateers will be on the road at Mount St. Vincent on Saturday at noon.
