The SUNY Maritime women's soccer team dropped the Rutgers-Newark tournament opener to Medgar Evers by a final score of 5-2.  The Privateers fall to 0-2 on the season.

Maritime fell to an early 3-0 lead, and could not climb out of the hole.  Kelly Fitzpatrick (Annapolis, MD/Mount de Sales) (Annapolis, MD/Mount de Sales) scored 38 minutes into the first half, for her first goal of the season.  Kelly Carroll (Bethany Beach, Del./Indian River) (Bethany Beach, DE/Indian River) scored the second goal for the Privateers late in the second half, off an assist from Kaitlin Murray (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional) (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional). 

Andria Thronton (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) made 21 saves in goal for the Privateers.

Maritime will play in the consolation game against the College of Staten Island on Saturday at 4PM.
