Box Score

Despite  their best efforts, Maritime women's soccer could not hold up to the Dolphins of Staten Island as they lost 7-0 in the consolation match of the Rutgers-Newark Tournament.

Staten Island scored it's three goals in the first half and four in the second to defeat the Privateers for third place in the tournament.  The Dolphins outshot Maritime 18-3 while Andria Thornton (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties), Krystyn Rutzel (Levittown, NY/Division Ave.) (Levittown, NY/Division Ave) and Meaghan Golden (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant) all combined for 23 saves.  Golden came in as a relief keeper after both Thornton and Rutzel were downed by injuries.  In addition to losing the two starting keepers, Maritime's bench was called upon as 6 out of the 11 starters were forced to come out of the game due to injury.

The Privateers are now 0-3 but will look to change that 0 to a 1 when they face the St. Elizabeth Eagles on Monday at 4:00pm in Parsippany, NJ.
