Mens Soccer Rolls to Third Straight Win

THROGGS NECK, NY – The SUNY Maritime men's soccer team won their third consecutive match of the season, this time over visiting City College of New York, by a final of 3-1. The Privateers improve to 5-2 overall.
 
Scoring opened up 23 minutes into the game, with Patrick Masango (Baltimore, MD/Phs Kumba) (Baltimore, MD/Phs Kumba) scoring his 7th goal of the season. Nelson Mayer (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) assisted with a beautiful midfield header. Three minutes later, Melih Alkyildiz (Eskisehir, Turkey/Atayurt) (Eskisehir, TKY/Atayurt) scored from a pass by Anuar Romero (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) (Roselle, NY/Roselle) to give the Privateers a 2-0 advantage. CCNY's Sebastian Ramirez scored from 30 yards out to bring the Beavers to within a score.
 
The second half was all about the Privateer defense, allowing only 5 shots, 1 of which was on goal. Masango added his 8th goal of the season, to give him his third multi-goal game of the season. Andrew Rahner (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) assisted on the goal.
 
The Privateers will host cross-river rival King's Point on Wednesday at 6:30 PM.
