Box Score THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's soccer team defeated Manhattanvlle 3-1 on Sunday's second game of the Valiant Classic. With the win, the Privateers improve to 3-2 on the season.
Mayer Nelson (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) scored twice in the second half to lead the Privateers to victory. Down 1-0 at the half, Nelson scored only 9 minutes into the second off a rebound from the Valiant goalkeeper. 14 minutes later, he scored again, beating the goalkeeper over the shoulder. Patrick Masango (Baltimore, MD/Phs Kumba) (Baltimore, MD/Phs Kumba) added the third goal with less than two minutes to play.
The Privateers will open conference play against Mount Saint Vincent at home on September 22nd. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.
