Box Score Pomona, NJ – Junior
Donald Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) tied a career single-game high of five goals, including three in the fourth period as part of a 6-0 Privateer run, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome a eight goal deficit as the Privateers just fell short to the Ospreys of Richard Stockton College, 12-10 in Skyline Conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday evening in Pomona, NJ.
Toby opened the game with an unassisted goal, but this would be the Privateers only lead of the day as the Ospreys would go on to score six goals in the first period. Maritime wouldn’t begin to surmount their comeback until the third period after trailing 10-3 after one half of play. Junior midfielder Alex Rosero (Bellport, NY/Bellport) started the Privateer run with 1:30 left in the third, scoring the first of his three goals. In the end, the clock became the Privateers biggest enemy, as they just didn’t have enough time to finish the late surge and tie the game up.
Sophomore attack Steve Mazurek (Jackson, NJ/Jackson) led the Ospreys with four goals and two assists followed by sophomore attack Keith Bologno (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees) with three goals and two assists.
Sophomore keeper
Joseph Fasano (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) had a rough outing, giving up ten goals and making six saves in one half of play. Freshman
Colin Gallagher (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) took over the second half in net for Maritime, allowing just two goals and making seven saves. Senior
Ryota Ishikawa (Dayton, NJ/S. Brunswick) made 13 saves for Stockton.
The Privateers return to action on Monday, April 9 when they head to Hackettstown, NJ to face Centenary College in a make-up date that was supposed to be played on March 17.
