Mayer nets first goal in defeat to Roadrunners

Throggs Neck, NY – Sophomore attack Alice Mayer (Wolcott, N.Y./North Rose-Wolcott) (Wolcott, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) netted her first career goal on a free position shot with under a minute left in the game, but it would be the Roadrunners of Ramapo College who earn a 16-2 victory over the Privateers of Maritime College in women’s lacrosse action Tuesday evening at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, NY.
 
Freshmen Every Rutledge (Plainsboro, NJ/ West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and Saranne Weimer (Atlantic Highlands, NJ/ Henry Hudson) each scored four goals and each had two assists for the Roadrunners who take their season opener to move to 1-0 on the season.
 
Freshman midfielder Heather Christiansen (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) netted her second goal of the season on a pass from junior Jamie Gleber (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) with 28 seconds left in the game.
 
Freshman keeper Megan Tierney (Wayne, NJ/ Wayne Hills) earned her first collegiate victory, stopping four shots and allowing two goals. Senior Nicole Rosario (Massapequa, NY/Kellenberg) (Massapequa, NY/Kellenberg) made 14 saves in net for the Privateers.
 
The Privateers will return to action on Sunday, April 1 when they to Aurora, NY to face Wells College in the two team’s first ever meeting. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
