Box Score
Throggs Neck, NY – Junior midfielder Donald Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) scored three goals and sparked a third period rally, but it wouldn’t be enough to overcome the Colonials of Western Connecticut State who pick up a 14-5 victory in men’s lacrosse action Wednesday evening at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, NY.

The Privateers trailed the whole game with West Connecticut taking an early 2-1 lead in the first period and held a 4-2 lead at the end of the first half. Trailing 5-2 in the third period, Toby helped bring Maritime two within a goal after scoring two goals in a ten second time span. However, the Colonials answered back with two unanswered goals and then went on a 7-0 scoring run to end the fourth period and earn the victory.

Junior attack Ron Pac (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) led the Colonials with four goals including the game winner which came with 3:14 left in the third period and made the score 6-4. Freshman midfielder Kirk Zachary (East Islip, NY/East Islip) added two goals while eight others each scored a goal.

Sophomore keeper Joseph Fasano (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) played a solid three periods allowing just seven goals, but wouldn’t be able to hold off the Colonials in the fourth who controlled the ball most of the period. He would finish with 11 saves and 13 goals allowed, to drop to 2-2 on the year. Freshman Colin Gallagher (Minneapolis, Minn./Westhill) (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) gave up one goal in a little under three minutes of play. Colonial keeper, Kyle Wood (Hyde Park, NY/FD Roosevelt), earned his second victory of the season, allowing just five goals and stopping 15 shots.

Maritime returns home this Saturday, March 24 when they host the Hawks of Becker College for a 1:00pm game. This will be the first meeting between the Privateers and Becker in men’s lacrosse.
