Christiansen enters record book with first Privateer goal in tough outing against Mount Saint Vincent

Throggs Neck, NY – Freshman midfielder Heather Christiansen (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) scored her first career goal and the first goal in the program’s history on a free position shot in the second half of what would prove to be a tough outing for the Privateers who drop their season opener to the Dolphin of the College of Mount Saint Vincent in women’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, NY. 
 
Freshman attack Kelly Martin (North Rockland, NY/North Rockland) and junior attack Cyndi Adams (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) each scored five goals to lead the Dolphins to victory in their season opener. Senior attack Beth Clark (Silver Spring, MD/St. John’s) added three assists for Mount Saint Vincent.
 
Freshman keeper Jackie Horn (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) earned the victory for the Dolphins posting one save and shutout the Privateers in 30:00 minutes of action. Senior Tara Staples (Clifton Park, NY/Shenandahowa) played the second half and allowed one goal. Senior Nicole Rosario (Massapequa, NY/Kellenberg) (Massapequa, NY/Kellenberg) made 24 saves in net for the Privateers.
 
The Privateers return to action on Friday, March 16 when they host the Chargers of Dominican College for a 4:00 p.m. match-up.
