Box Score Hoboken, NJ – The Maritime College men’s basketball team held an eight point lead over the Stevens Institute of Technology at the end of one half of play, but wouldn’t be able to hold off the Ducks, who rallied in the second to earn a 68-55 victory to move into first place of the Skyline Conference Thursday evening at the Schaefer Center in Hoboken, NJ.
Sophomore forward
Timothy Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) scored a team high 16 points and had a game high 13 rebounds for the Privateers who fall to 3-17 on the year and 2-9 in the Skyline. Sophomore guard
Joseph Bracaglia (Jamaica, N.Y./Martin Van Buren) (Jamaica, NY/Martin Van Buren) finished the game with 12 points, shooting 3-of-5 from downtown.
The Ducks were led by sophomore guard Virgil Gray (Elmwood Park, NJ/Bergen Catholic) who scored a game high 23 points, while junior guard Waleed Farid (Woodside, NY/Stuyvesant) added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Maritime returns to action on Saturday, February 3 when they travel to Purchase, NY to face the Valiants of Manhattanville College for their second meeting of the season. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
