Men's Basketball Denied on the Road at Mount Saint Mary's

THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's basketball team was denied their 4th conference win by Mount Saint Mary's Wednesday evening.  The 73-67 loss dropped Maritime into 5th place in the conference at 5-4 (3-2), while MSM moved into sole posession of second place at 7-3 (4-1).

The first half was very close the first 17 minutes, with neither team making runs to break the game open.  The last three minutes were a different story though, as Maritime ended the half on a 9-0 run to take a 40-29 lead into the half. 

Mount Saint Mary's came out of the locker room with a lot of intensity, but the Privateers matched it and extended their lead to 12 with 16 minutes to play.  However, Maritime wasn't able to keep up with Alex Kuchar who scored 11 points in the next 7 minutes to pull his team to within 1.  Maritime's final lead in the evening came at the 4:40 mark, a 63-61 advantage.  Mount Saint Mary's went on to finish the game with a 12-4 run.

The Privateers got 18 points from Jamal Webb (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Tuckahoe) (Tuckahoe, NY/Tuckahoe) and 15 from Tim Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep)Rahshawn Pringle (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) (Bronx, NY/Frederick Douglas) had 11 in 38 minutes.

Mount Saint Mary was led by Kuchar with 29 points (25 second half points), followed by Jason Cardez with 15.

The Privateers have a two week break before taking on Brooklyn College at home on December 29th at 2PM.
