THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men's and women's swim teams fell to King's Point at home Monday evening. The final men's score was 138-77, while the women fell 141-60.
On the women's side, Alyson Paz (Point Lookout, NY/Long Beach) (Point Lookout, NY/Long Beach) captured the 1 meter dive event, outscoring three other Mariners by more than 40 points. Moira Kelly (Long Beach, N.Y./Kellenberg) (Lon Beach, NY/Kellenberg) also captured a first place victory, in the 100 yd. backstroke. Her time of 1:31.99 was nearly 5 seconds faster than the second place finisher from King's Point. The 200 yd. medley relay team consisting of Paz, Caroline Hickey (New Orleans, La./DeLasalle), Brittany McVea (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) (Camillus, NY/West Genesee), and Ecarsha Smith (Nassau, Bahamas/St. Augustine College) captured first place by one second (2:16.04).
For the men, Karl Fisher (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township)(Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) scored a personal best 165 in the diving event.
The swim teams will host Lehman College on November 4th at 7PM.
