Box Score THROGGS NECK, NY – The SUNY Maritime women's soccer team lost a home match to Nyack College by a final of 8-0. With the win, Nyack improves to 6-7 while Maritime falls to 0-7.
Two different players scored three times for the Warriors, who took 36 total shots in the evening. Alisha Smith opened the scoring 12 minutes into the game and then scored again a minute later. Smith assisted on another first half goal, before scoring her third goal late in the second half. Nicole Keiser scored the teams' third goal in the first half, and then two more times in the second, taking 9 total shots, 4 of which were on goal. The aggressive Warriors were called offsides 15 times in the match, and attempted 10 corner kicks.
The Privateers ended the game with only 2 shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Krystyn Rutzel (Levittown, NY/Division Ave.) (Levittown, NY/Division Ave.) made an impressive 15 saves on the evening.
Maritime will look to pick up a win against Purchase on Saturday at home. The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
