Men's Soccer Falls at Old Westbury; Final Game this Saturday

THROGGS NECK, NY - The SUNY Maritime men traveled to Old Westbury for a Skyline conference match, and fell to the Panthers 2-0.  With the win, Old Westbury jumped to the top of the Skyline at 7-0-1 (tied with St. Joseph's) while Maritime dropped to third at 7-1.

Mayer Nelson (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington), ranked 4th in the nation in goals per game and 4th in points per game, was held to 6 shots and no goals.  His freshman counter, Patrick Masango (Baltimore, MD/Phs Kumba) (Baltimore, MD/Phs Kumba), who is 6th in the nation in goals per game and 7th in points per game, was held to only 4 shots and couldn't score.  Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) (Flushing, NY/Francis Lewis) started the game in goal for the Privateers, saving 6 shots.

Old Westbury's Justin Leakey scored twice, while their keeper  Brandon DeNoyer stopped 14 shots.

Maritime's final game will be this weekend at St. Joseph's.  A first round bye into the Skyline semifinals is up for grab.  The winner of the game will move into either 1st or 2nd place, with the loser hosting a quarterfinal match.  Game time is set for 12:30 PM.
