Box Score BROOKLYN, NY- Fresh off their first win of the season only 2 days beforehand, the Maritime women's soccer team came away the victor of a close 2-1 contest with the Blue Jays of Polytechnic University. Maritime's record now stands at 2-8-0 (2-4-0) while the Blue Jays fall to 0-7-0 (0-5-0.)
The first half of the game remained even at 0-0, although Maritime outshot Polytechnic 9-2. Less than 2 minutes into the second half, Heather Christiansen (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin) opened up the scoring for the Privateers off a pass behind the defense straight into the box and slipped it between the goalie's hands. Christina George (Southold, N.Y./Southold) (Southold, NY/ Southold) added the insurance goal off of a beautiful shot from outside of the box, hitting just past the goalie's hands into the upper corner of the goal.
The Privateers will look to continue their winning streak as they next take on Farmingdale State on Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 pm on Reinhart Field.
