Privateers edged out by Vassar

Poughkeepsie, NY – Senior Al Juergens (Boylston, MA/New Fairfield) (Boylston, MA/New Fairfield) picked up wins in the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle events, but the Privateers would just get edged out by the Brewers of Vassar College, 125-98 in men’s swimming action Wednesday evening in Poughkeepsie, NY.
 
Senior Brent May (Sabel, NY/Sabel) (Sabel, NY/Sabel) scored to second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle [24.72] and 100-yard freestyle [55.51], while senior Drew Gossoo (Marlborough, CT/Xavier) (Marlborough, CT/Xavier) earned first place in the 200-yard breaststroke[2:31.76] and second in the 200-yard IM [2:27.84]. Junior Tom Williams (Cheektowaga, NY/West Seneca) also had two second place finishes in the 200-yard IM [2:37.41] and the 200-yards freestyle [2:04.47] to earn valuable points for the Privateers. 
 
The Privateers return to action on Saturday, January 27 when Maritime hosts Stevens Institute of Technology in a men’s and women’s dual meet.
