McVea and Paz excel against Dolphins

Throggs Neck, NY – Juniors Brittany McVea (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) and Alyson Paz (Point Lookout, NY/Long Beach) (Point Lookout, NY/Long Beach) each earned a first place finish, but the Privateers were edged out by the Dolphins of the College of Staten Island, 151-52 in a women’s swimming meet Thursday evening in Throggs Neck, NY.
 
McVea picked up a win in the first 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:23.39, while Paz took first in 1-meter diving with a total score of 126.10. In addition, Paz also took second in the 100-yard freestyle [1:09.28], falling just a second behind the leader.
 
The Privateer women’s team fall to 1-6 on the year, competing in their first dual meet since December 5 when they defeated Lehman College 112-63. They will return to action on Saturday, January 27 when Maritime hosts Stevens Institute of Technology in a men’s and women’s dual meet.
