Volleyball win streak halted in defeat to Brooklyn

Throggs Neck, NY –The Maritime College Privateers had their two game win streak ended after dropping a close 3-0 [30-22, 30-17, 32-39] decision to the Bridges of Brooklyn College in a women’s volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Riesenberg Gymnasium in Throggs Neck, NY.
 
Leading the assault for Brooklyn was freshman Kerri-Ann Burton (Bronx, NY/Harry S. Truman) who had a game high 13 kills and senior setter Nancy Vuong (Malverne, NY/Valley Stream North) who also had a game high of 10 aces and 14 assists.
 
For the Privateers, the middle hitting duo of juniors Jeanette Golson (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) and Marissa Webber-Bey (Far Rockaway, NY/Fashion Industries) combined for 11 blocks, six of which came from Webber-Bey who also finished with four kills.
 
Junior Jamie Gleber (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) (Wilmington, DE/Padua Academy) had a team high nine digs, while freshman setter Claudette Killian (Baldwinsville, NY/Lima Christian School) led the Privateers with six assists.
 
After today’s game, the Privateers now stand at 3-9 on the year, while Brooklyn College improves to 5-4 overall.
 
Maritime returns to action on Monday, October 2 when they travel to Kings Point, NY to take on the Merchant Marine Academy in a Skyline Conference contest schedule for 7pm.
