Box Score Purchase, NY – Freshman forward Mehmet Alkan (Turkey/Ozel Cent) scored two goals to lift the Privateers of Maritime College over the Valiants of Mahattnaville College, 2-1 in a Skyline Conference men’s soccer match-up Wednesday night in Purchase, NY.

Alkan would score the game-winning goal with just over three minutes left in the game, beating the Valiant keeper again on a pass from Andino. This was Alkan’s fourth goal of the season.
Tonight’s game was a huge victory for the Privateers, who improve to and 1-1-1 in the Skyline and move into a tie for fourth place with Manhattanville. This was Maritime's first victory over Manhattanville since the Valiants joined the Skyline Conference. After starting the season at 4-0-1, the Valiants now find themselves at 4-3-2.

The Privateers will return to action on Monday, October 2 when they host the Cougars of Medgar Evers College for a 6:00 pm game. The last time these two teams squared-off, the Privateers took a 4-1 win over the Cougars on September 13, 2004.
