Box Score Throggs Neck, NY – After taking an early first half lead off a goal by junior forward
Sean Pfanzelter (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), the Privateers gave up to goals in the early minutes of the second half to take a 2-1 defeat to the Panthers of Purchase College a non-conference men’s soccer match Thursday evening in Throggs Neck.
Pfanzelter scored his goal just one minute into the game, to give the Privateers a 1-0 lead that they held for the rest of the first half. However, the momentum of the game began to shift following a red card at 42:12 that forced the Privateers to play the remainder of the game down a man.
Senior forward Ryan Roach (Vestal, NY/Seton Catholic) opened up the second half for Purchase by taking advantage of a 2-on-1 opportunity and scoring a goal to tie the game at one a piece. Two minutes later, the Panthers struck again, this time by sophomore midfielder Colin Wilcox (Rochester, NY/The Harley School) who scored off of pass from senior Matthew Friedman (Loch Sheldrake, NY/Fallsburg) to give the Purchase the go ahead goal and eventual game winner.

Noah Colantuono (Pawling, NY/Pawling) had five saves and one goal against for the Panthers.
After tonight’s game, the Panthers earn their first victory of the season, improving to 1-3, while the Privateers pick up their first loss after tying Old Westbury this past Saturday to fall to 0-1-1.
Maritime will get s short rest before returning to action this Saturday, when they host the defending Skyline Conference Champion Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology for a 5pm game following a Privateer football contest against Norwich University at Noon.
