Throggs Neck, NY – Senior
Jeremy Krider (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) and junior
Joey Temperini (Queens, NY/Holy Cross) each converted two tries in a rout over Molloy College as the Maritime Rugby team won their first game of the season 32-0 on Sunday in Rockville Centre, NY.
Junior winger
Chris Tamulonis scored the Privateers first points, hitting a penalty kick in the latter part of the first half. Tamulonis finished the game with two conversion kicks and one penalty kick. This was followed by Krider’s first try, which came via a two-man effort that broke down Molloy’s defense, pitching the ball back and forth every time they would attempt a tackle. Freshman
Peter Rose (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) rounded out the scoring with a try of his own that followed an intense scrum.
The Maritime Rugby club returns to action on Sunday, September 23 when they travel to Madison, NJ to take on Drew University in a Metro New York Rugby Conference match-up.
