Cyclones storm past Privateers

Throggs Neck, NY – Freshman forward Kiti Ovaskainen (Helsinki, Finland/Vaskeineoren Lukio) scored the game-winning goal, 1:39 into the first half to help lift the Cyclones of Centenary College over the Privateers, 8-0, in a Skyline Conference women’s soccer match at on Saturday at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck, NY.
 
The Cyclones were led by freshman midfielder Christina Stassi (Hackettstown/Pope John XXII) who scored two goals in the first half and junior forward Clare Johnson (Morris Plains/Morristown) who picked up a goal in each half.
 
Senior Kristen Johnston (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Acad.) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) made her first career start in net for the Privateers, stopping 11 shots. Junior keeper Coree Reuter (La Center, WA/La Center) is awarded the shutout for the Cyclones in 75 minutes of duty.
 
The Privateers will return to action on Wednesday, September 20 at 4 p.m. when they travel to Purchase, NY to take on the Valiants of Manhattanville College in a Skyline Conference contest.
