Box Score
Throggs Neck, NY – Despite holding a 10-7 lead after six and a half innings and the Privateers best hitting performance of the season, John Jay College would rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead and eventual win Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference nine-inning game of baseball at American Legion Field in Brooklyn, NY.

For the Privateers junior left fielder Arlis Steel (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) (Lawton, OK/Lawton) was 2-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored, and also extended his hitting streak to seven games. Freshman catcher Kris Wagner (Tampa, Fla./T.R. Robinson) (Tampa, FL/T.R. Robinson) had a solid outing hitting 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while junior center fielder Daniel Hosemann (West Hempstead, N.Y./Carey) (West Hempstead, NY/Carey) hit 2-for-5, but both hits were triples that helped bring in two runs and he would score on both occasions as well.

Freshman first baseman Matthew Cresswell (Commack, NY/Commack) (Commack, NY/Commack) had the most hits, but wasn’t able to bring in or score any runs of his own. Cresswell also made just his second appearance on the mound this season. During his two innings of duty, he allowed just two earned runs and two hits.

The Bloodhounds were led by sophomore catcher Stephen Hillman (Seaford, NY/Seaford), who hit 4-for-5 with six runs batted in and five runs scored. Also coming up big for John Jay was junior short stop Henry Chao (Queens, NY/WC Bryant) who finished the game with three runs batted in after going 3-for-3 at the plate.

Of the five pitchers used during the game for the Privateers, freshman Larry Berger (Bronx, N.Y./Mt. St. Michael) (Bronx, NY/Mt. St. Michael) takes the loss after giving up six earned runs in three innings. John Jay freshman Enmanuel Rodriguez (Manhattan, NY/Manchester) nabs the victory after coming in relief of junior John Dobkowski (Brooklyn, NY/Grover Cleveland). In three innings, Rodriguez allowed only one earned run and just six hits.
