Box Score
Throggs Neck, NY – The Privateer men’s lacrosse team returned Sunday evening from a weekend trip where the team faced off against Guilford College on the campus of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday March 11th and then traveled north to take on Wesley College in Dover, Delaware on Sunday March 12th.

Against the Quakers of Guilford College, trailing 7-1 at the half, the Privateers would surmount a comeback and almost stole the game, but would go on to drop an 11-7 decision. On Sunday, playing in their first back-to-back game of the season, the Privateers showed some signs of fatigue as they allowed the Wolverines to score 14 goals in the first half. Once again trailing heading into the second half, Maritime just didn’t seem to have the same drive to make a comeback as they did 24 hours prior, falling to Wesley by a score of 20-8.

Senior attack Kevin Swift (New Market, MD/Linganore) (New Market, MD/Linganore) was the scoring leader after the two games with four goals, followed by sophomore midfielder Doanld Toby (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) and freshman attack Keith Fricke (White Plains, NY/White Plains) (White Plains, NY/White Plains) who each had three goals. Toby, who scored all three of his goals against Guilford, also had a team high of four assists, three in the game at Wesley.

Junior goal keeper Tim O’Hara (Syracuse, NY/Bishop Ludden) and freshman goal keeper Joseph Fasano (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage), split duties all weekend, each playing a total of two halves. Fasano started in goal against Guilford, allowing seven goals with five saves. O’Hara would come in for the second half, and would allow only four goals with five saves. Against Wesley, O’Hara was given the nod to start in net, however it would turn into a 30 minute struggle as the Wolverines peppered the goal with 35 shots, 14 of which would see the back of the net. Fasano came in relief of O’Hara in the second half, allowing six goals with eight saves after facing 20 shots.

The Maritime College Lacrosse Parent’s Association was well represented as over 50 family members made the trek down to Saturday’s game in Annapolis. A good portion of those families also made the trip to Dover for Sunday’s game. The Maritime College Athletic Department would like thank all those who made it out to support the team and send a special thanks to the Williams and Rogan families for their hospitality this weekend and help in making it such a great experience for all those in attendance.

The team will have a nice break to recuperate from their trip, not having another game for over a week. When they take the field next, the Privateers host Western Connecticut State University on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7:00pm.
