Throggs Neck, NY – Junior forward Michael Stolberg (Bayside, N.Y./Holy Cross) (Bayside, NY/Holy Cross) tallied his third straight double-double with a team high 15 points and a new career high 19 rebounds, yet his efforts would not be enough to break the Privateer losing streak as they are defeated by Brooklyn College, 70-57 in a non-conference men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon in Throggs Neck, NY.

 

Sophomore forward Timothy Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) finished in double-figures for the fifth straight game, scoring 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.

 

Sophomore guard Joseph Bracaglia (Jamaica, N.Y./Martin Van Buren) (Jamaica, NY/Martin Van Buren) provided the Privateers with a surge in the second half, scoring 11 points after draining three shots from downtown. However, foul trouble and turnovers would plaque the Privateers, stalling their comeback efforts.

 

Brooklyn guard Corey McFarlane (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) had a monster game on both sides of the ball, scoring a game high 22 points and grabbing six defensive rebounds and forcing five steals. Senior guard Richard Martin, Jr. (Brooklyn, NY/FDR) also had a huge game with 20 points as the only other member to finish in double-figures.

 

Maritime will look to change the tides in the new year and break their seven game skid when they host the Saints of Marymount College on Wednesday, January 3 at 4:00pm.
