Throggs Neck, NY – The fourth seeded Maritime Rugby club finished third at the Northeastern Rugby Union Regional Championships during the weekend of November 11-12 in Batavia, NY hosted by Genesee Community College.

 

The Privateers opened up the tournament on Saturday with a tough loss to the top seeded Bentley College. Bentley advanced to the Regional Championships after defeating the University of Hartford 15-0 to win the New England Rugby Football Union Championship.

 

In the consolation game on Sunday, the Privateers defeated the #2 seed University of Hartford 25-13 to earn the third place finish, the furthest the team has gotten in school history.

 

The third place finish capped off the best season in the program’s long history at Maritime, that saw them go undefeated in regular season competition and win their first Division Championship.
