Today’s victory earned Medgar Evers first place at the Invitational, going 2-0 after defeating the Pratt Institute on Saturday, 2-0. Senior Kay Francis (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) finishes the weekend with four goals, two in each game. Senior Tricia Plummer (Brooklyn, NY/Sheepshead Bay) added a goal and an assist on Sunday, while Sunday’s game winning goal goes to sophomore Charissa Pejotte (Brooklyn, NY/San Juan Senior).
Maritime led in corner kicks taken with 13 compared to 5 from Medgar Evers, the 13 corner kicks is the most in a game ever for the Privateers.
Senior keeper Kristin Johnston (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) finishes the day with 11 saves, while freshman keeper Charlene Brown (Queens, NY/Springfield Gard) finished with six saves and no goals against in 66 minutes of duty.
The Privateers return to action on Wednesday when they host the Ducks of the Stevens Institute of Technology for a Skyline Conference game 4:00pm.
