Box Score Throggs Neck, NY – Senior midfielders Meghan Karcher (Franklin Square, NY/H. Frank Carey) and Jessica Dery (Lowell, MA/Lowell Catholic) each scored two goals to lift the Blue Knights of Mount Saint Mary over the Privateers of Maritime College, 4-0 in a Skyline Conference women’s soccer match Thursday evening in Throggs Neck, NY.
Senior keeper Kristin Johnston (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) had a big game for the Privateers, finishing with 13 saves, and held the Blue Knights to just one goal in the first 39 minutes of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Thibault (Watertown, CT/Sacred Heart) finished with one save for the Blue Knights.
Karchar scored the game-winning goal, unassisted at 39:42, the only goal of the first half. She scored her second goal after receiving a pass from freshman forward Danielle Bucco (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) at 50:38. Dory’s two goals were both unassisted, one on a breakaway and the other was scored on a rebounded shot that bounced off the Privateer keeper.
After today’s game the Privateers now fall to 0-6 on the year and 0-4 in the Skyline, while Mount Saint Mary improves to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in the Skyline.
Maritime returns to action on Sunday, October 8 when they will host either Medgar Evers College or the Pratt Institute in the second round of the first Maritime Women’s Soccer Invitational. On Saturday, Medgar Evers will face Pratt at Noon, the winner will then face the Privateers on Sunday at Noon.
