Annandale-on-Hudson, NY – Freshman forward Timothy Dougherty (Fresh Meadows, NY/St. Francis Prep) played the best game of his rookie season scoring 17 points and dominated the boards with a game high 15 rebounds as the Privateers break a seven game skid with a ten point win over the Raptors of Bard College 69-59 Thursday evening on the road.
Maritime held Bard to only two points for the first five minutes of the game, and held their largest lead of the game in the first, going up by 14 points with 7:23 left until the intermission.
Trailing by 11 points coming into the second half, the Raptors fought back to tie the game at 59 with just 3:26 left to go in the game. However, the Privateers would go on a 10-0 run, blanking the Raptors for the final three minutes of the game.
Senior guard
Gerard Danzy (Monroeville, Ala./Hillcrest) (Monroeville, AL/Hillcrest) scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds off the bench, while senior forward
Adam Turner (New York, NY/Westfield) scored a game high 23 points, but would be the only Raptor to score in double-digits.
Tonight’s victory improves the Privateers to 3-9 on the season, while Bard falls to 2-8 overall. Next up the Privateers will face-off against the Eagles of Saint Joseph’s College in a Skyline Conference match-up. That game will take place on Saturday, January 14 at 4pm in Riesenberg Hall at Maritime College.
