Throggs Neck, NY – The Maritime Ruby Club opened up their regular season this past weekend taking a 38-3 win over the Raptors of Bard College in a Metropolitan Conference game.

Senior center William Walkup (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) led the team scoring two tries and was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the match by Coach Robert Wolfe. Senior full back Tom Lorenzen (Montose, NY/Hendrich Hudson) (Montuse, NY/Hendrich Hudson) had the most decisive hit and carries the big wamper stick for the week.

This was a big win for Maritime as Bard had a majority of its players return from last season, a season that saw the Raptors take a tough loss in the division finals. The Privateers just out fought Bard, as they dominated possession of the ball, denying Bard any chance to make a push to score.

The Maritime Rugby Club will return to action on Sunday October 9th when they host Drew University at 1pm.
