Privateers take season opener, 4-1

Throggs Neck, NY – The Privateer Men’s Soccer team shot down the Hawks of Hunter College on the road Monday night in their season opener by a score of 4-1. Sophomore forward Mozman Nihat (Turkey) scored two goals in his collegiate debut. Senior midfielder Anuar Romero (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) (Roselle, NJ/Roselle) scored the game-winning goal as he headed the ball past the Hunter goalkeeper.
Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Kavanaugh (Penfield, NY/Penfield) (Penfield, NY/Penfield) made his return to the net after playing the second half of last season in the field. In his return, Kavanaugh allowed only one goal and picked up several key saves.
 
The Privateers open up conference play on Saturday when they host the Panthers of Old Westbury in a 3pm game.
