Throggs Neck, NY – Junior guard Maha Aiad (Flushing, NY/Kew-Forest) (Flushing, NY/The Kew-Forest School) scored a team high of seven points for the Privateers, however they were unable to break the undefeated streak of Mount Saint Mary and drop a 88-18 decision Saturday afternoon in a women’s basketball Skyline Conference game at Maritime.

The Blue Knights got a huge contribution from their bench as the starters sat out a majority of the game. Most notably were freshman guard Vanessa Lawson (Kingston, NY/Kingston) who finished with a team high of 17 points and senior center Selena McGillivary (Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie) had 16 points shooting 40% from the field. Everyone that dressed for today’s game scored at least two baskets for Mount Saint Mary as the number one ranked conference team improved to 6-0 on the year and 2-0 in the Skyline.

Sophomore guard Kristen Johnston (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Acad.) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa Academy) had pick up the slack for the Privateers as starting point guard Kerri Herrmann (Central Islip, NY/St. Anthony's) was inactive due to an injury she sustained earlier in the year. Johnston played 37 minutes, scored four points and picked up five rebounds. Sophomore forward Ellen Cava (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro) also added four points for the Privateers, while freshman forward Marissa Webber-Bey (Far Rockaway, NY/Fashion) continues to lead the team in rebounds grabbing nine boards in this game.

The Privateers return to action on Wednesday the 8th when they host the Lady Maccabees of Yeshiva University, tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
