Privateers Unable to Ground the Golden Eagles

Throggs Neck, NY – Freshman outside hitter Lisa Giordano (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) tallied 11 kills and 11 digs to help lead the Golden Eagles of Saint Joseph’s – Patchogue to 3-0 win over the Privateers of Maritime Thursday night in a Skyline Conference women’s volleyball match-up.
 
Saint Joseph’s came out strong in this match winning the first game by a score of 30-9. The Privateers were able to recover in the second and third games, but just weren’t able to take control and fell 30-13 in the second and 30-20 in the third. Freshman outside hitter Brittany McVea (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) (Camillos, NY/West Genesse) continues to play hard this time getting eight kills and several hits that kept the Privateers in the game.
 
Also contributing for Saint Joe’s was senior middle hitter Melissa Willi (Jamesport, NY/Longwood) who hit 60% for the game with 10 kills and only one error. For Maritime, freshman setter Mackenzie Hough (Johnstown, PA/Bishop McCourt) (Johnston, PA/Bishop McCort) had six assists and five digs.
 
After the win, the Golden Eagles now improve to a record of 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the Skyline. Next up for them will be the Rams of Farmingdale State on Saturday the 25th. The Privateers now fall to 0-5 on the year and same in the Skyline and will travel to Brooklyn on Monday to take on the Cougars of Medgar Evers College.
