Volleyball Hopes to Ace in Season Opener Against KP

Throggs Neck, NY – The Privateers Women’s Volleyball program prepares for the opening of the 2004 season as they travel across the river to take on school rival United States Merchant Marine Academy – Kings Point on Saturday September 11. The Privateers, who had several graduating seniors last season,   will have a pair of talented junior's leading the way for them this year. First are team captains outside hitter Danielle Scicutella (Queens, NY/Mary Louis) (Queens, NY/Mary Louis) and setter Jessie Wykstra (Moravia, NY/Moravia). In the middle the Privateers will have junior Anna Kuchin (Brooklyn, NY/Lincoln) and senior Rita Martins (Holtsville, NY/Sachem) (Holtsville, NY/Sachem) who will add some much needed height to their blocking scheme. Rounding things out will be freshmen setter Mackenzie Hugh (Johnston, PA/Bishop McCort) who will serve as the team’s second setter on the court and outside hitter Brittany McVea (Camillus, NY/West Genesse) (Camillos, NY/West Genesse). At the helm for the Privateers will be Head Coach Ennio Escoto, who enters into his second season at Maritime, he will be assisted once again by Fernando Santos.
 
After Saturday’s game, the Privateers will be back in action on Monday September 13th when they take on Skyline Conference rival Mount Saint Vincent in the team’s home opener at 7pm.
